RobotTown submits grant request to the N...

RobotTown brass…yeah I said it…brass submitted a proposal to the New Economy Initiative (NEI) this week to request planning and feasibility study money. The money would be used to complete a feasibility study including where RobotTown should be and to create a business plan and sustainability plan around the effort. We are also looking to some commercial partners and to Government for some additional project money.

Corey and I took the beautiful drive up to Mackinac Island for the Mackinac Policy Conference last week. While a bit chilly on the island, we got to talk RobotTown up with just about everyone at the conference! It was great to have so many influential people in the same place at the same time. The response was overwhelmingly positive and now that we’re back home, we can focus on funding and making this thing happen.

Crains published an article on RobotTown. A couple good quotes. Good stuff going on in the D. Is Motown soon to become Robot Town? That’s the working title of a proposed robotics research consortium, laboratory/test center and possible local tourist attraction under discussion among industry leaders in Southeast Michigan.
